Never Kiss a Rake by
Anne Stuart My rating:
3 of 5 stars Sorry to say that I'm quite disappoint in this book. Except for the fact that the hero married someone else at the beginning of the story, almost all components are what I love in romance.
A hero with dark past & reputation, who ruthless enough to seduce his own housekeeper. But somehow I cannot connect with the characters both the hero and the heroine. Bryony, the heroine, disguises as a housekeeper with intention to find the truth about her father's death. But throughout the book I barely see Bryony attempted to find any information. She got along with other servant. She became a very good housekeeper and she fell in love with the man she suspected involvement with her father's death. The romance is not that bad but lack of chemistry I always expect from Ms. Stuart.
I am frustrated with the pace of the story. I feel like the author kept a lot of suspense plot (about Bryony's father murder) for the next book). I understand it's important to keep trilogy interesting but if the first book is not working who care about the rest.
P.S. I received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review but I was not sure it's good idea to post this review at the time of publication consider I do not love the book. So I waited until today.
